 Salote Palota

(Co-op March-May 2010)
Malo e lelei, I am Salote Polota from Tonga. I am on my last semester to completing my Bachelor of Business majoring Tourism and Management.  I would say that I am lucky to be offered a place at the NZTRI in order for me to use my skills and knowledge from the classroom towards NZTRI projects, it was my pleasure.

Working at this institute, gave me the opportunity to work on projects regarding my own country which was really amazing, because this will not only help me understand my country more but also help my country towards understanding the significance and the real meaning behind tourism. Just want to shout out a BIG THANK YOU (MALO!!!!) to all the staff and intern students for all their help and support while my time at NZTRI. Malo ‘aupito!!!! (Thank you so much)

Jessie Xu
(Co-op August-0ctober 2009)

Working at the TRI  provided me with the opportunity to be involved in several research projects. I was able to practise my primary and secondary research skill as well as apply the knowledge I have learnt from the classroom into real business world. This co-op learning experience helped me identify the field of research interest and this made a significant difference in my career development.

Pear Jin (left), AUT Auckland

(Co-op August - October 2008)

I am Pear Jin from Malaysia and I worked as a co-op student from August to October 2008 at NZTRI (as part of my BA/BBus English and Tourism). I had a great time working in NZTRI and it gave me great opportunity to practice quantitative and qualitative research skills that I had acquired during my undergraduate studies in AUT. However, it is not just all work and no play in TRI. The TRI team is a lovely bunch of people and I really enjoyed my time while I was there. Working here has improved my research skills, built on my skill set, as well as gaining a few friends! This has been a valuable experience and I strongly recommended the AUT co-op students to work for TRI if given a chance.

Starr Nguyen (right), AUT Auckland
(Co-op: April - June 2008)

I am originally from Vietnam, but I have been living in Auckland for the past 6 years. I finished my Bachelor of Business, majoring in Tourism in Oct 2008. My co-op at NZTRI was interesting as I learned how versatile the academic world is and I was very lucky to be part of quite a few different projects. It helped me to have a clearer idea of what I want to do for my career and I have got to meet some really nice people!
