Prior to joining NZTRI, Jim taught management and tourism courses at UNITEC and AIS in Auckland. He also had about 10 years’ experience of tourism industry accumulated in mainland China and New Zealand. Jim is currently the subject leader of the tourism program at The School of Continuing and Professional Education, Hong Kong Institute of Education.

I have to say that NZTRI is one of very few unforgettable organizations in my academic/ career life. I have found NZTRI to be a next-to-none place to conduct all sorts of research, no matter it is for a person’s PhD degree or for his academic development. At the NZTRI family, you have very good chance to meet talents with passion for tourism from all over the world. The communication and interaction with them always deepened and enriched my understanding of the subject of tourism and made me learn to look at the subject from a lot of new aspects. As a Ph.D candidate of TRI, I received wonderful supervision and support, which have inspired and fostered my very strong and long-lasting interest in tourism-related research.
