Andy focuses on empowering people and organisations to become effective users of ICT. He established his business, Wairua Consulting, in 1997 to help facilitate the strategic alignment of technology within organisations, government and community. Andy is experienced in commercial and academic research and consulting. His skills lie in consultancy and in applied, end-user focussed research and evaluation, enhanced by his experience in managing the research and consultancy organisations and teams. Recent assignments include evaluating the benefits of online compliance for SMEs, a national evaluation of community ICT and establishing an applied information technology research centre.

 

Andy works across a range of sectors, including technology start-ups, software developers, telecommunications, banking and finance, education, government and civil society. He is passionate about projects that support people and organisations to become effective users of technology, ensuring that appropriate processes are developed, aligned with training and skills development and matched with sound organisational knowledge.

 

Andy is active in the community informatics field within New Zealand and internationally. Amongst other appointments, he is a member of the New Zealand Government's Digital Strategy Advisory Group.
